Donald Henry Kruszewski, of Fairfax Station, VA passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Kruszewski; three children, Mark, Andrew, and Allison Kruszewski; five grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Jake, Bridget, and Shay Kruszewski; one sister, Sandra Auer; and one niece and nephew, Krystyna and Erich Auer, respectively. Donald was born in 1942 in Erie, PA to Henry and Monica Kruszewski. He attended Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie, where he played football and softball. He then served as an air traffic controller with the U.S. Air Force in Montgomery, AL from 1961 until 1965. After the military, he attended Gannon College (now Gannon University) before moving to and settling down in northern Virginia. Donald spent his professional career as a public servant with the Federal government, working at the U.S. General Accounting Office (now U.S. Government Accountability Office), Department of Energy, and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). At USAID, he served as a Foreign Service Officer, a role that led him to live in Cairo, Egypt, and Tegucigalpa, Honduras. A sports lover his entire life, Donald was an outstanding athlete, and took great enjoyment from coaching, playing, and watching sports with his children and grandchildren. He also loved the beach and created many wonderful memories on family trips to the Outer Banks. Funeral Services will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA, and he will be interred at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, VA.
