Eleanor Katherine Alt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Katherine Alt on July 17th, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on August 12, 1937, in Glen Dale, NY, to Reinhold and Hedwig Alt, Eleanor lived a life full of warmth, joy, and dedication to her family and friends.

Eleanor was known for her helpful nature, her constant smile, her enthusiasm for family gatherings, and her love of milkshakes. She never left a People magazine unread or missed a Macy’s Day parade. Her presence was a cherished gift to all who knew her.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Reinhold and Hedwig Alt, her brother Walter, and his wife, Janet. She leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories.

Eleanor is survived by her nieces and nephews, who were very dear to her: Karen Spurlock (Steve), Susan Petko (Tim), Maryanne Showalter (Steve), and Michael Alt (Kathy). They, along with many other family members and friends, will miss her deeply.

Eleanor's life was a testament to the importance of family, kindness, and community. She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of everyone she met.

The family will hold a private service at St. Charles cemetery in Long Island, NY where Eleanor will be laid to rest with her mother and father.
