

Frieda was born at home on September 24, 1936 in Chesnee, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Marvin Allen Starnes and Clara Daisy Vassey Starnes. Her late husband, William (Bill) Harris Moore, passed away May of 1994. She is also predeceased in death by her siblings, Hyma Cable, Patsy Richey, Joe Starnes, and Joyce Hines. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Moore Kinney (Patrick) and predeceased by her son, William (Billy) Harris Moore Jr. and daughter, Della Denise Moore. Frieda loved and adored her grandchildren, Richard Mullins of Warrenton, Virginia and Caroline Kinney of Leesburg, Virginia. She leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Owen and Zoe Mullins.
Frieda graduated from Chesnee High School in 1955 and married Bill Moore the same year . Frieda and Bill lived in Charlotte, North Carolina and eventually settled in the Mount Vernon area of Alexandria, Virginia. Her husband Bill started a bricklaying company called General Masonry, which became quite successful in the Northern Virginia area. Frieda helped him with the books in the early days, and they raised three children together.
Frieda had a loving and kind personality and loved hosting parties and family gatherings, a tradition she passed on to her daughter Linda. She enjoyed spontaneous adventures with her husband Bill (Las Vegas and Atlantic City), accompanying her husband to skeet shooting competitions, and go-kart races for her son Billy. She traveled to Hawaii and Europe with friends and enjoyed her yearly trips to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with her sister Patsy. She enjoyed ceramic painting, cheering on the Washington Commanders, attending shows like Les Misérables, and dancing with her husband at local bluegrass venues. She was also an avid reader of Stephen King and David Baldacci novels.
After her husband passed, she bought an oceanfront condo in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, which was enjoyed by all the family. It was truly her happy place. Frieda and Bill also owned Indian Run Farm in Rixeyville, Virginia. They planted sunflowers and vegetables, fished in their pond, and enjoyed the beauty of the Hazel River. Frieda had an infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and generous spirit. The amount of people she helped cannot be counted. She gave quietly and rooted for the underdog. She loved and adored her grandchildren and marveled in every single accomplishment.
She had a strength that sustained her in later years when medical issues arose. She was loved deeply by everyone she met. She had an incredible sense of fashion and home decorating. She was the model for kindness, respect, and southern manners. She had a strong Christian faith that she leaned on when adversity came her way. Her impact on all of our lives will live on forever.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fairfax Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax, Virginia 22030. A celebration of her life will be held at the same location on Tuesday, February 17th at 11 a.m. An on-site luncheon will immediately follow the service. A recessional to her interment beside her husband Bill and children Della and Billy will be held at 3 p.m. at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia.
