

Born in Harrisburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late John and Belinda W. Barber of Devon, PA.
An avid reader, Jacquelyn graduated BS magna cum laude from Susquehanna University (1961) and earned a Masters in Library Science from Kent State University (1969). She taught music in PA and Florida, and joined the Providence Public Library in 1969 where she went on to serve in many leadership positions, including head of the Rochambeau Branch, and was a member of the American Library Association, the New England Library Association and the Rhode Island Library Association. She was awarded Librarian of the year in 1992. Jacquelyn was a devout member of the Providence Presbyterian Church where she served as organist and sang in the choir.
Jacquelyn was the loving mother of Deborah and son-in-law Robert of Oakton VA. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine of Elverson, PA, her nephew John of Reading, PA, and niece Laura and husband Robert and children Grace and Benjamin of Birdsboro, PA. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur “Ray” Cooper.
Jackie was a woman of faith who deeply loved her family, reading and everything cats. She rejoiced in life and was kind to all she met. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially those of us fortunate enough to be her family.
A graveside service will be held at the Great Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, located at 2025 Swedesford Rd, Malvern, PA, 19355, United States. The service is scheduled for November 17, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
