AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Jerome Paul Timlin

9 octobre 1934 – 11 décembre 2024
Avis de décès de Jerome Paul Timlin
AUX SOINS DE

Demaine Funeral Home – Fairfax

Colonel Jerome Paul Timlin (US Army, Ret.), beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at age 90. Born on October 9, 1934, to Mary (Collins) and Francis Timlin, “Jerry” grew up alongside his younger brother and best friend, Thomas “Tommy” Francis Timlin, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Scranton and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Arizona where he earned an MBA.

In January 1957, he married the beautiful love of his life, Marilyn Culkin. They enjoyed 61 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2010. Together, they built a family fi lled with love, faith and children. Jerry is survived by his four wonderful children, who have blessed him with 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Jerry’s distinguished career began with training by preeminent cryptologists at the National Security Agency. Commissioned in the U.S. Army in 1958, his service included tours of duty in Vietnam and Europe operating at the forefront of military intelligence and information technology. Rising to the rank of Colonel, he retired in 1984 after 26 years of active-duty service. Following retirement from the Army, Jerry continued his career in public service, working for many years for Prince William County, Virginia. Blessed with an intelligent and inquisitive mind, Jerry loved to play his piano, discuss current events, and dance with his grandchildren. He was an enthusiastic researcher of his ancestry, tracing his long lineage of Irish heritage, and loved sharing the stories with his family. An avid gardener with an artistic soul, he enjoyed crafting waterfowl decoys, nurturing plants passed through generations, and his eggnog recipe is in demand at every holiday party.

Above all, Jerry’s family meant the world to him. Cherishing his memory are:

● Daughter, Maribeth Duggan (Tim) of Greenville, SC, and their children, Ian Duggan (Carolyn), Conor Duggan (Catherine), and Hayley Heron (Jack).

● Daughter, Kathryn Carfrey of Moseley, VA, and her daughters, Meaghan Carfrey, Colleen Carfrey, Brigid Hudson (Bobby) and Maureen Samuels (Nicholas).

● Daughter, Janet Bogorowski (Jim) of Glenside, PA, and their children, Derek Bogorowski (Samantha), Jack Bogorowski (Maria), Hanna Bogorowski, and Gunnar Bogorowski.

● Son, Jerome Paul Timlin, Jr. (Deborah) of Westerly, RI, and their daughters, Daisy Mosher (Ryan), Lily Timlin (Jason Radwan), and Ivy Timlin.

In addition to his wife Marilyn, Jerry was predeceased by his son-in-law William “Bill” Carfrey, Jr, and his brother, Thomas F. Timlin.

Interment with full military honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on April 11, 2025 at 9 am. A funeral Mass at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Fairfax, VA will be held at 10:45 am on April 10 and a visitation will take place at Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax the preceding evening, April 9, from 6 to 8 pm.

In lieu of fl owers, the family appreciates donations to The Cancer Couch Foundation in memory of Jerry’s niece, Rebecca Timlin Scalera.
