To the Monnin Family,
Sending my deepest sympathy to all of you at this time. I went to grade school with Joe and have the best memories of simply hanging out with him during class or on the bus. He had the warmest smile and was always a friend...to everyone. As we often do, I lost touch with Joe after graduating from Ascension. Proud to say that I knew a wonderful person and even more proud for his service to our country. Prayers and hugs to you all.

To the Monnin Family,
Please accept our condolences on the passing of Joe. We were deeply saddened by the news. We served with Joe in the Army in Germany from 1990-1992. He was one of the first officers I met when I arrived and I would soon come to rely on him. Little did I know that we would develop a friendship that would last over 30 years. It was a tough assignment and I gave Joe many difficult tasks, a good number of which were outside his area of expertise. He rose to the challenge each time and never failed to turn in a winning performance. Throughout our time together in the Army, Joe served with great distinction. You should be very proud of his service to the nation. His fellow soldiers will remember him as an outstanding officer and leader, a true comrade, and a loyal friend. I owe him a great debt of gratitude.
