

Mary (Marie) Eunice Gill Jobe, age 99, died Saturday, September 27, at Arbor Terrace Sudley Manor, Manassas, Virginia. She was born on December 2, 1925, in Lancaster, Virginia to Jay Gould Gill, Sr. and Mabel Forrester Gill.
Mary lived in Lancaster until age 8 and then moved to White Stone, Virginia where she lived with her Great Aunt Mary Gill Smith and Uncle George Smith until age 18. Growing up near the Rappahannock River, Mary developed a life-long love of swimming.
After finishing high school, Mary trained to become a registered nurse at Winchester Memorial Hospital Training School for Nurses.
In December of 1945, Mary met the love of her life, Glenwood (Nick) Richard Jobe. They were married June 15, 1947, in Boyce, Virgina.
Together they lived in Winchester, Virginia eventually settling in Fairfax, Virginia. In Fairfax, Mary worked for many years at Fairfax Nursing Home and later the Pediatric Ward at Fairfax Hospital. Caring for others whether family, patients or friends was a hallmark of her life. Mary was a charter member of Fairfax United Methodist Church and very active in many aspects of church life especially the United Methodist Women’s Ministry which included yearly trips to Emerald Isle, NC with her dear church friends. Raising three boys, the Jobe Family was active in all levels of baseball from Little League to Babe Ruth and High School baseball. Mary became an avid fan of the Nationals baseball team and spent many hours rooting for her team. She highly valued education and instilled a love of learning in her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by sons, Brock (Barbara) of Wilmington, DE, Bruce (Elizabeth) of Pine Knoll Shores, NC, and Steve (Denice) of Centreville, VA. Grandchildren: Richard (Nicole), Eddie (Sunisa Naksiri), Bryan (Carrie), Nick, Henry, and Katye (Jefferson) Griffin and great grandchildren: Jayden, Jay, Cameron, Annie, and Summer.
She is predeceased by her husband, Glenwood Jobe, brothers, Robert Gill and Jay Gill, Jr, and sisters, Dorothy Lewis and Rubinette Dunaway, and great-granddaughter, Maggie Griffin.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 4 pm at Fairfax United Methodist Church. Donations in her memory may be made to Fairfax United Methodist Church, 10300 Stratford Avenue, Fairfax, VA 22030.
