Nécrologie de Norma Jane McClain
Norma “Jane” McClain, 82, of Chantilly, Virginia passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on April, 20th 2024 following a recent diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer. Born on the 04th of July 1941, to Charles and Eva (Matheny) Whitmer, Jane was a Fairfax native and attended Fairfax High School. After high school Jane was married and found work in the accounting departments for Sears and Roebuck, Appalachian Outfitters, and then Fairfax County government from which she retired in 2009. Jane was a founding member of the Fairfax Church of Christ, where she served for 55 years and led a large divorce support recovery program for more than a decade. Jane was an incredibly caring person and dedicated her personal interests and commitments to serving and supporting her family, friends and her church. Jane loved nothing more than spending her time volunteering in ministries, cooking homemade meals to feed her loved ones, writing thoughtful notes and sending care packages to encourage others, and playing card games over many snacks with her beloved family. Jane’s determination to be with family took her to places she never imagined she’d see. She regularly visited Texas but also traveled often to other states and countries, including Belgium, China and the United Kingdom. While her departure has left her loved ones broken-hearted at her passing, she will be celebrated and remembered for the legacy and example she leaves behind as Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt, Sister, Cousin, Dear Friend, and dedicated Christian for generations to come. Jane is preceded in death by her mother, father and two sisters, Carol (Jim Burge) and Ann (Carl Jenkins) whom she loved and missed dearly. Jane is survived by her two sons and their families, Robert (Gayla), and Kirk (Shawna), her grandchildren, Collin (Sabrina), Nathan (Erin), Elyssa (Jake Hendrix), Mollee, Caleb (Rachel), her great grandchildren Nora, Eliza, Harvey and Zachary, cousin Wanda (Doug Thorpe), and many beloved nieces, nephews and close friends. A service to celebrate Jane’s life will be held at the Fairfax Church of Christ, 3901 Rugby Road, Fairfax, VA on Saturday, May 4th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jane’s honor to Camp Wamava, a Christian summer camp for youth. Please visit https://www.wamava.com/donate and designate “in honor of Jane McClain” in the comments section to continue Jane’s service and help her family support this cause.
