
Paul Arthur Nichols, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. He was 91 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Seastrom Nichols and son Paul Arthur Nichols Jr. Paul is survived by his daughter, Linda Decker Hartman; grandchildren Kristin Nichols, Jonathan Hartman, Gregory Nichols; and great-granddaughter Maddie Jacobs. He was born in Montreal, Canada to immigrant parents. After graduation from Western High School in Washington DC, he returned to Canada and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. Following the war, he married Elsie and together they immigrated to the United States and became citizens. He worked for the C&P Telephone Company, retiring from Bell Atlantic as an engineer after 41 years of service. A longtime resident of Fairfax City, Paul was well known for his calligraphy skills and stained glass artistry. He served in the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. He was also a volunteer guide at the Vietnam Veterans memorial. He sang with the Fairfax Jubil-Aires Barbershop Chorus and the C&P Singers. He was a member and Elder of the Vienna Presbyterian Church and in later years worshiped at the Fairfax Christian Church. He enjoyed traveling and loved his family, pets and the Montreal Canadians. Family will receive friends at the Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax on Thursday, April 30th, 6-8PM.
