

On Sunday, January 19th, 2025, Raymond Edward Shaw of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away at the age of 93, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 1st, 1931, in Washington, D.C. Raymond served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. He graduated from the Fairfax County Police Academy in 1957 rising to the rank of sergeant. After sustaining an injury while on duty, he retired from the department in 1977. Following his retirement, he served as a Magistrate for Fairfax County and, in 1987, founded Artie’s Lock and Key. In 1988, he began volunteering with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. During his retirement, he traveled extensively with his beloved wife, Dorthy, and spent his time fishing on his boat.
Raymond enjoyed spending his summers with his grandchildren in Surfside Beach, SC. He also took immense pride in seeing his grandchildren, Scott and Kelly, graduate from college. He found joy in their achievements and cherished his time with his family. He enjoyed sharing stories, celebrating milestones, and creating moments that will be treasured by his loved ones forever.
He leaves behind daughters Cheryl Greenway and Teresa Casper; grandchildren Kelly Casper (Ben Garber) and Rachel Casper, Scott Greenway (Ana Cecilia); great-grandchildren Scarlett, Reuben, and Mia Greenway; and many more friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held at Demaine Funeral Home on Monday, January 27 at 11:45 AM with interment to follow at the Fairfax City Cemetery.
