

Robert (Bob) was born on June 13, 1952 in Oakland, CA to John Roscoe Keith and Hazel Virginia (nee Martindale) Keith. His parents were employees of the Federal Aviation Administration, and Bob enjoyed sharing many pleasant memories of his early years in Alaska and Santa Barbara, CA. At the age of eight his family moved to the Washington, DC area where Bob remained for the duration of his life. He graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, and the College of William and Mary, graduating in 1974. Upon graduation, he began his 40-plus year career at the Library of Congress while also finishing his Masters Degree in Political Science at American University.
Bob raised his family of two children, Michael and Jacqueline in Fairfax, VA alongside his former wife, Melanie. He had a very successful career as an expert in the federal budget process at the Congressional Research Service of the Library of Congress. He also enjoyed adjunct teaching at the University of Maryland and was the author of several textbooks on the budget process. After retirement, he was a consultant to the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations and an active volunteer with the Metropolitan Police Department, where he was awarded Volunteer of the Year by the Chief of Police.
Bob was a devoted father to daughter Jacqueline Mackler (Chris), son Michael Keith (Elisabeth “Libba”) and grandfather to his four grandchildren, Juliana Mackler, Callan Mackler, Wayman Keith and Lily Keith. He is also survived by his brother, John.
A celebration of life reception for Bob Keith will be held at International Country Club at 13200 Lee Jackson Highway Fairfax, VA 22033 on Tuesday, March 4th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Friends and family are welcome to stop by at any time to share fond memories and honor his life.
