Ruth C. Hill

Of Springfield, VA, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016. Beloved wife of Thomas H. Hill; loving mother of Donna, Janet and Wendy (husband Jeff), eight grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 25th at 2 PM at Little River United Church of Christ, 8410 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ruth’s honor to the church, indicating Ruth Hill memorial. Ruth C Hill, a longtime employee of the Fairfax County Health Department and supporter of the arts in the City of Fairfax, died quietly on June 20, 2016 in her home in Greenspring Village in Springfield, VA. Among her activities in the arts, she served as librarian of the City of Fairfax Band for 22 years with her husband Dr Thomas Hill as conductor. She is survived by her husband as well as three daughters; Donna, Janet and Wendy (husband Jeff), eight grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her sister, Eleanor Beard age 95, also is among her survivors. Born in New Bedford, Mass in 1925, she was the youngest daughter of Harry and Annie Caswell. She graduated from Nashua, New Hampshire high School and Westbrook Junior College in Portland Maine. Her marriage lasted just one month short of 70 years. A memorial service will be held at Little River United Church of Christ in Annandale, at 2pm on Saturday, June 25.
