Songoh Hong

Songoh Hong of Annandale, VA, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the age of 78. He was the loving and beloved husband of Myongsuk, to whom he was married for 52 years; the father of Tina and Robin; and the grandfather of Philip and Vivien. He was raised and educated in Seoul, Korea. He met his wife, Myongsuk, while they worked at the same radio station in Seoul. They were married on December 28, 1968, and they immigrated to the U.S. in 1971. Songoh worked for a long time as an architectural engineer for the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. While his daughters were growing up, he enjoyed driving his family to the coast and to many other vacations all over the U.S. and Canada. Songoh´s hobbies included music, reading, fishing, the outdoors, watching his favorite BBC shows, spending quiet time at home with his wife and tending to his lawn. He doted on his grandchildren and was always interested in learning and reading about music, history, philosophy, spirituality and current events. We will greatly miss our dad, husband and grandpa very much, and we will love him always.
