Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and Doris (McKenna) Souza, he had resided in Fairhaven since 1968.
Mr. Souza was a United States Air Force Veteran having served with the Strategic Air Command.
He was employed in the retail business at Upperdeck Antiques and Mammoth Mart.
Al loved watching baseball and was a collector of baseball and beer can memorabilia.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Ross Souza and his wife Gail of Lakeville and Dean Souza of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren, Josh and Sherry Rivet of Dartmouth and Michael and Christine Rivet of Pennsylvania; a sister, Sharyn Souza of New Bedford; and several great-grandchildren. He was the great-grandfather of the late Trey A. Rivet.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 5-8pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation, www.epilepsyfoundation.org. His funeral and burial will be private.
