

Born in Rochester, NY, to the late Harry “Mickey” Connolly and Mary Elizabeth Connolly. Christine graduated from Scituate High School as captain of the cheerleading squad and as an accomplished varsity tennis player.
After receiving her B.A. in Special Needs Education from Bridgewater State College in 1971, she became a teacher in the New Bedford Public Schools where she taught for over 30 years until her retirement in 2010.
Throughout her adult life Christine continued her athletic and competitive drive. She was a member of both Reservation Golf Club and the Country Club of New Bedford, where her passion for golf culminated in a 2002 win of the Inez Mello Invitational Women’s Four Ball Tournament. Outside of athletics, Christine was a devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren, an extensive traveler, bridge player, and a lover of live music. Blessed with a beautiful and effortless singing voice, she could often be found singing alongside her brothers or children who also shared her passion.
Remembering and continuing her love are her three children, Kelly Galligan of Fairhaven, MA with husband Caleb Piehl, Seamus Galligan of Fairhaven, MA, and Patrick Galligan of Framingham, MA. She is also survived by her former husband and father of her children, Terrence Galligan of Acushnet, MA. She leaves three brothers, John M. Connolly of Falmouth, MA, William J. Connolly of New Bedford, MA, and Donald P. Connolly and his wife, Susan, of Phippsburg, ME. Christine leaves her three adoring grandchildren, Connor, Cian, and Seamus, in addition to many nieces and nephews and a close network of friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass Monday, December 23, 2013 at 9 AM in Holy Name Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Sunday 2-5 PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN Home of Memorial Tribute, Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Burial will be private.
