Edward Couto

Edward Couto, age 86, of Fairhaven, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Eileen (Moniz) Couto to whom he had been married for 61 years. Eddie was a loving Father, proud Grandfather and faithful friend to all who knew him. He gave us many gifts. Always a song in his heart and a smile on face he will be greatly missed

He was born in New Bedford, the son of the late Veriato "Joe" Couto and Mary Maher . He was a longtime Fairhaven resident. Mr. Couto was employed with Drakes Cakes and Frito Lay for many years until his retirement in 1989. He was active member of the Varsity Club. Mr. Couto was also a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by three children: James Couto and his wife Sheri of Ridgway, CO; David M. Couto and his wife Roberta of Fairhaven and Diane Davignon and her husband Robert of S. Dartmouth; six grandchildren: Ryan Couto and his wife Bethany, Jesse, Matthew and Evan Couto and Joshua and Nicole Davignon; two sisters Rita Sylvia of New Bedford and Dolores Leal of Fairhaven and several nieces and nephews.

His Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 4 to 7PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT FAIRLAWN 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Burial will be private. To send a tribute or for directions please visit: www.waring-sullivan.com
