Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Peter J. and Mary F. (O’Leary) Perry, she lived in Mattapoisett, Newport, RI and Naples, Florida for many years before moving to Middletown. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1941.
During WWII, Peggy was secretary to “Wild Bill” Donovan, head of the Office of Strategic Services in Washington, D.C. In 1974 Mrs. Jensen, along with her husband, opened Kjeld Jensen Gifts in Mattapoisett, followed by shops on Bowen’s Wharf in Newport and Johnny Cake Hill in New Bedford.
Survivors include her children, Kathleen S. DeMello and her husband John of Mattapoisett, Susan Sylvia- Kolev of Chapala, Mexico, Peter C. Jensen of Fall River and Kimberly J. Paltridge and her husband Mark of Middletown, RI; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren.
