Born in New Bedford a son of the late Leandre and Louise (Monast) Gaumont, he was a lifelong New Bedfod resident. Roger was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School. and a communicant of St. Joseph and St. Therese Church. He was employed for 36 years at the Acushnet Company as a time study engineer, retiring in 1990. Roger loved his family and especially being with his grandchildren. He was a coach for CYO and the Whaling City Little League and he enjoyed fishing.
Roger is survived by two daughters, Carol Nelson and her husband Robert Jr. and Diane Leal and her husband Robert, both of New Bedford; two sons, Robert Gaumont and his wife Cathy Maccini of Dartmouth and Gary Gaumont of Hyannis; a sister Claire Amaral and her husband Ernest of CA; six grandchildren, Amanda and her husband Lincoln, Meghan, Amy, Robert III and his wife Stephanie, Laura and Grace; and three great-grandchildren, Jameson, Thomas and Avery; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Roger H. Gaumont and the brother of the late Roland Gaumont.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 9:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven followed by a funeral mass at 10:00AM in St. Joseph and St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Burial is Private.
