

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late John W. and Theresa (Borges) Pacheco he was a lifelong area resident.
Wayne joined the United States Army in 1969, first serving in Korea, and faithfully served for 26 years, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served in the 483rd Engineer Battalion of the US Army Reserve at Fort Rodman in New Bedford until it was disbanded in 1991, later serving in other units. He was a retired equipment operator and truck driver for the Army Corps of Engineers at the Cape Cod Canal.
Wayne enjoyed being a singer and musician, playing keyboards and the guitar. He last played for the recent Joe Jesus’ 50’s night. He played in various bands such as The Majestics, Absolute and Voyage. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, traveling with his wife, tinkering with computers, and he had a true love of music.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Rhonda Heroux and her husband Marcus of New Bedford, Marc Pacheco and his wife Diane of Topsfield, Kevin Pacheco and his fiancé Heather Sullivan of Sandwich, ; a step daughter, Melanie Vandal and her husband Neil of Mattapoisett; ten grandchildren and one on the way, Brian Jr., Brandon, Giselle, Samantha, Katrina, Dillan, Lily, Jack, Reese, and Grady; three great grandchildren, Sofia, Kaleb, and Reis; former spouse and mother of his children Suzanne Pacheco, two brothers, Robert Pacheco of Swansea and Dennis Pacheco of RI; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jennifer Guimond and her late husband, Brian; and brother of the late William “Butch” Pacheco and John “Tubby” Pacheco, Jr.
His visitation will be Wednesday, September 14, 2022 4-8 p.m. in WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. There will be a funeral service at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
