William S. Hayter, 71, of Fairhaven, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Annette Demers with whom he shared 10 years of marriage.
Born in Fairhaven, son of the late William F. and Gladys L. (Silver) Hayter, he was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven.
William was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and received a degree in teaching from the University of Arkansas.
He had worked in various local establishments before becoming the proprietor of South Side Annie’s in the south end of New Bedford, for approximately the last 15 years.
William was an avid sports fan, enjoyed playing cards and had a strong work ethic.
He is survived by his wife Annette and her children and his sister, Carol A. Brennan-Barry and her family.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 3-6pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Burial is private.
