Alma Virginia Taulbee

Alma was born July 24, 1926 in Waiteville, WV to John and Septa (Shockey) Markgraf.

She married Paul Taulbee on October 9, 1943; he preceded her in death on May 6, 2011.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Danny Tubbs; two grandsons, Michael and Bradford Tubbs; and four brothers, Howard Markgraf, Arnold Markgraf, Normal Markgraf and Raymond Markgraf.

She is survived by her loving family, including her two daughters, Sharon Tubbs of Hernando, MS and Patricia (Bill) Surrey of Collinsville, IL; grandchildren, Christine, Lori, Patty, Bill, Bob, Phillip and Erika; 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Alma and her husband, Paul were longtime residents of Schaumburg, IL. They were devoted members of Bethel Baptist Church in Schaumburg, IL since 1965.

She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan her entire life; a passion that was passed on to many of her family members.

In recent years, Alma came to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Illinois where she was able to cherish her time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Alma loved the Lord and took comfort in the promises of the Bible. Her life was a reflection of the goodness of the Lord. Her loss leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but they find comfort in knowing she is with her Savior and in perfect peace with Him.

A family graveside gathering will be held at a later date at Arlington Cemetery in Elmurst, IL. The family has entrusted Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL with arrangements.
