

Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, in the Pacific Theater. He retired from General Motors where he worked as a materials manager. He was an avid reader and enjoyed college basketball and baseball. He loved the outdoors, camping and spending those weekends with his family during his retirement. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather; who’s memory will be cherished by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth L. Hunter, nee Graef; his parents, Earnest A. and Christina H., nee Kern, Hunter; and his siblings, Walter W. Hunter, Dorothy Mae Moore, Mary Jane Taylor, and Joan Fitzgillan.
Surviving are his two sons, Robert (Janet) Hunter, of Maryville, Illinois and James (Debra) Hunter, of Smithton, Illinois; his grandchildren, Scott (Allison) Harrison, Craig (Jill) Harrison, Steven Jarvis, Tyler Hunter, and Lauren Hunter; his great grandchildren, Dylan, Zoe, Ella, Cole, and Kaylee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth York officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
