Dana Marie Blue

Dana graduated from East Side High School in East St. Louis, Illinois in 1950. She spent most of her career happily working for Daniel & Henry Insurance Agency, as a bookkeeper and claims manager. Dana was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She had a wonderful gift of making everyone she knew feel special. Those around her were touched by her love and support in many ways, throughout her life. Her passion was her family. Along with her husband, she spent her time raising five children, loving 15 grandchildren, and welcoming 17 great grandchildren into this world.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Blue, whom she married on July 22, 1950; and her daughter, Denise Settles, nee Blue; and her parents, Aubrey E. and Lucille, nee Chambers, Barton.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her three sons, Donald A. (Ruth) Blue, of Golconda, Illinois, David (Ruth) Blue, of Fayetteville, Illinois, and Dan (Jodee) Blue, of Millstadt, Illinois; her daughter, Deborah (Dennis) Mernick, of Swansea, Illinois; a son-in-law, Charles Settles, of Lively Grove, Illinois; 15 grandchildren, Donald J. (Elaine) Blue, Doug (Lori) Blue, Diane Blue, Sarah (Jim) Williams, Dennis J. (Ashley) Mernick, Molly (Dan) Hepp, Michael (Samantha) Mernick, Anna Mernick, Christopher, Settles, Erin Settles, Andrew Settles, David (Missy) Blue, Katie (Chris) Mense, Gwen Riley, and Ben (Trisha) Blue; 17 great grandchildren, Abbey, Donnie, Nolan, Connor, Claire, Emma, Lucy, Grace, Peyton, Reagan, James, Ben, Brody, Grady, Finn, Alyssa, and Shanan; her sisters, LaNell Ferrell and Betty Vickers; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of St. Paul's Home and Family Hospice.

Funeral: Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor James Slone officiating. Interment will be held privately in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
