Delrose Opal Schmittling

Delrose Opal Schmittling, nee Dill, age 92, of Belleville, Illinois passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg, IL. She was born in Waterloo, IL, on May 15 or 16, 1932, to Robert and Leona Dill.

During her life, Delrose worked at Belleville Foundry, Belleville Shoe Company and Panorama Lanes. After retiring, she went on to donate her time at St Teresa School.

She loved spending time with her family, traveling, bowling and babysitting for the numerous friends and family throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert, Sr. and Leona Dill; her loving husband, Charles F. Schmittling, Sr.; her brother, Robert Dill.

She is survived by her four children; daughter, Charlotte (David) Chaput; sons, Charles, (Jo'nell) Schmittling, Jr., Ronald (Elise) Schmittling, and Curt (Sherry) Schmittling; grandchildren, Rebecca (Timothy) Claxton, Jennifer (Stephen) Broida, Matthew (Jennifer Barron) Chaput, Robert Schmittling, Jessica Schmittling, Andrea (Weston) Lopez, Christopher (Laura) Schmittling, Paige Schmittling, and Sarah Schmittling; seven great grandchildren, brother, Ronald Dill; sister-in-law, Marion Schmittling; and many nieces and nephews. She brought so much joy to all our lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following in Delrose's name: American Cancer Society, Tunnels to Towers, of Hospice of Southern Illinois.

A visitation for Delrose will be held Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208. A funeral service will occur Monday, February 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208. A committal will occur Monday, February 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208.
