Derrick Vaughn Loston

Derrick Vaughn Loston, 41, of East St. Louis, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022. He was born on December 26, 1980 to Thelma Diggs and Fred Carter, Jr. Derrick was a veteran of the United States Navy. He attended Southwestern Illinois College. Derrick had a passion for art, especially drawing. He also enjoyed video games, anime and spending time in the kitchen cooking. Derrick moved to Jackson, Tennessee to be near his son, William. He worked hard to provide for William and loved spending time with him and William’s sister, M’Kayelyn Hodgkins. Derrick had a personality everyone was drawn too and will be remembered for his funny laugh. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his son, William Loston; mother, Thelma Diggs; siblings, Cedric Loston, Suraeya (Travis) Lansaw, Earlene Carter, Geraldine (Troy) Bruce, Michael (Natasha) Carter, Christopher Carter and Liticia Carter; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends. Predeceased by his father, Fred Carter Jr.; brother, Fred Carter III; grandmother, Mamie Loston and aunt, Pearl Griffin.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 4:00pm-7:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 1:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home with interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
