Dee, as she was known, spent endless hours in her sewing room creating all sorts of beautiful garments or quilts and mending or altering countless other articles of clothing. She began sewing as a child on a treadle sewing machine and she kept right on stitching up to a few years before her death. Of course she updated and had power machines with all kinds of buttons and fancy stitches. Dee sewed to supplement her income after John died, but mostly she delighted in helping people with fast and inexpensive service. One memorable project was to sew a dress resembling the Chrysler Building for a local play.
Dee loved the Lord. There was no church close to her when she was a child, but the beauty of her surroundings made her realize that God was real and wanted her to know Him. When she left Golden Eagle to find employment she bought a Bible, found a church, and committed her life to Jesus Christ. She has been a faithful servant ever since. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Collinsville.
To celebrate her life, her family invites you to attend a service at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL on April 19, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. A memorial visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, at 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
