Everett "Roy" Higgerson

Everett "Roy" Higgerson, Jr., 87, of Panama City, Florida, formerly of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born January 19, 1928 in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at home surrounded by family.

Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Andrew Baptist Church in Panama City, Florida. He was a member of the Joy Singers Group, who visited surrounding nursing facilities and sang for the residents. He and his wife were also leaders of the Seniors Winter Guest Program, a luncheon provided for guests of the church. Prior to moving to Florida he was a member of Grace Church in Fairview Heights, where he was a worship leader and singer for many, many years. Roy loved to sing; it was more than a hobby and was an excellent way for him to help spread the gospel. He enjoyed wood working and creating arts and crafts. He was a loving family man, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Eleanora, nee Schreiber, Higgerson, Sr.; and his brother, Paul Higgerson.

Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Bonnie L. Higgerson, nee Neudecker, of Panama City, Florida; his children, Kevin Higgerson and Karen (Jim) Sprinkle, both of O'Fallon, Illinois; his two grandchildren, Jill Sprinkle and Jarrod Sprinkle; great grandchildren, Andrew Sprinkle and Blake Sprinkle; two sisters, Wilma Lyerla and Dorothy Radford; a brother-in-law, Rodney (Deanna) Neudecker; a sister-in-law, Judith (Stanley) Underwood; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, October 5, 2015 at the funeral home, with Pastor Hal Santos officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
