Fred C. Hayes

Fred was born August 24, 1927 in Wilkes Co., N.C. to Reallie and Marie Hayes. They preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Beulah (Curry) Hayes in 1996. His second wife, Angelina Hayes, also preceded him in death in 2014, as well as his siblings, Evelyn Hayes, Willard Hayes, Pearl Leonard, Ralph Hayes, Jesse Hayes and Lee Hayes.

Fred is survived by his children, Cheryl Bramlett of O’Fallon, IL and Fredrick Hayes of Belleville, IL; granddaughter, Danylle Hayes of Fairview Heights, IL; siblings, Shelby Craven, Opal Hayes and Lindbergh Hayes, all residing in North Carolina; and extended family, numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and after his discharge from the military, continued his working career in civil service with the sewage treatment plant for 30+ years at Scott Air Force Base. He enjoyed fishing, climbing trees, watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, NASCAR and football. He stayed active by helping others and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Dementia Society of America.

A funeral service for Fred will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.

A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, from 10:00 A.M.- 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
