

He was born February 21, 1943 in Chicago, IL to John G. and Lola B. (Dean) Probst.
Gary is survived by his two daughters, Jeanette (Jay) Doil of O’Fallon, IL and Deborah (Eric) Probst of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Lucas and Eva; sister-in-law, Nancy Probst of Chicago, IL; three nieces, Patti Scherwey, Cathy (Ken) McCudden and Caryn (Steve) Sprovieri; his former wife, Carol (David) Albers of Freeburg, IL; and many great-nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Probst.
Gary was a man of many talents and interests, ranging from his love for the outdoors, attending the Indy 500 race on several occasions and all things related to NASA.
In years past, he worked at Hi De Ho Motel and Restaurant in Carlyle and then worked as a salesman, selling pianos then big screen televisions. In the most recent years, Gary’s love for music was at the forefront of his life. He enjoyed singing and playing as an impersonator of Johnny Cash. He loved his time spent entertaining others, whether it be as the “Man in Black” or alongside his bandmates. He lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger throughout his many adventures in life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation rites have been accorded under the direction of Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 2:00 P.M.- 4:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.
A memorial service will be held following the visitation, on 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Carman Wuebbels officiating.
