George Franklin Dill

George Franklin Dill, 85, of Collinsville, Il, formerly of Marshall, Il, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 31, 1931, and 27 years later, married the love of his life, Jacquelyn, at St. John Lutheran Church in Maryville, IL, on June 15, 1958. George was a thoroughbred horse trainer for most of his life, where he traveled to multiple race tracks around the country. He was also a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa. He proudly served in the Army, and worked for American Steel for 5 years. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Jesse and Laura (nee Randall) Dill; son, Michael Dill; brothers, Harold Darr, Chuck Dill, Herbert Dill, and Russel Dill; and sister, Imogene Dill.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jacquelyn (nee Bauer) Dill; son George Roger “Butch” (Tracey) Dill; daughters Deborah “Debbie” (James) McComas, and Cheryl “Cheri” Dill; grandchildren Erica (Ralph) Martinez, James Bradley McComas, Carole Marie Robinson, Hannah Mae Dill, and Michael Kevin ( fiancé Karol Nguyen) Williams, Ashley Nicole Dill and Jacob Michael Dill; great grandchildren Blaine, Brody, Mercedes, Gage, Donovan, and Levi; one sister, Darlene Finkbinder and a number of dear relatives and friends..

A memorial graveside service will be held, Friday, April 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm, Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Family and friends are asked to gather at Lake View Funeral Home from 12:30 pm until 12:45 pm and then follow in procession to the burial site.
