Gordon Alan Blase

Gordon was born February 17, 1951, in East St. Louis, IL to Clarence J. and Dolores M. (Berry) Blase. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Charles and Katherine (Beres) Berry and paternal grandparents, Henry and Elizabeth (Netteler) Blase.

Gordon is survived by his former wife, Hedy (Silk) Blase of Creve Coeur, MO; sister, Judith (Michael) Woodruff of Collinsville, IL; aunt, Audrey (Blase) Tobin of Orlando, FL; cousins, Susan Tobin of St. Louis, MO; Kathleen Tobin of St. Louis, MO; James (Janice) Tobin of Mims, FL; Eileen (Rodney) Beatty of Orlando, FL; lifelong friend, Robert (Kathy) Maggio of Kirkwood, MO; and many beloved cousins and friends.

Gordon was a 1969 graduate of Belleville Township High School East. He attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, earning several degrees, including a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. His career was spent as a Test and Evaluation Engineer with the Boeing Company. He began his career in 1978 with McDonnell Douglas Corporation, which later became Boeing. He was a longtime member of the Boeing Scubbaneers’ Scuba Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying many hikes in the woods, camping adventures and even enjoying trips to the Boundary Waters of US and Canada. He was a St. Louis Blues and Cardinal fan and a true jack-of-all-trades. He also earned his way as an Eagle Scout, danced at the Muny in St. Louis and was a talented pencil artist, sharing his art with friends and family. Gordon’s generous heart and giving spirit will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

VISITATION: A visitation for Gordon will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 4:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.

FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

The family requests the wearing of masks for the visitation and services.
