Mrs. Stowers retired from Stifel in 1999 as a Name and Address Clerk after 15 years of dedicated service. She also worked in the childcare department at the Tri-County YMCA. In her free time, Ida loved to bowl with her husband, Chuck, and also enjoyed sewing and embroidery. Above all, her greatest enjoyment came from her grandchildren, whom she loved very much!
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, James F. and Ida M., nee Copling, Carkuff; a brother, James “Bubby Carkuff; a sister, Mary Kay Dorchincez; and three brothers-in-law, Larry Colyott, Bob Hoskins, and Mike Dorchincez.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles “Chuck” Stowers, whom she married January 23, 1960; a son, Charles R. (Laura) Stowers; three daughters, Terry Mize; Peggy (Ron) Meier; and Karla (David) Boyd; ten grandchildren, Theresa (Kevin) Beck, Sam (Corrine) Mize, Trevor (Nicole) Mize, Grey Stowers, Adam Stowers, Will Stowers, Alex (Samantha) Pool, Margaret (Brad) Gordon, Sean Boyd, and Kristen Boyd; twelve great-grandchildren; four sisters, Thelma (George) Friemann, Judy Colyott, Anita Carkuff, and June Hoskins, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Service: Due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, a private service for family only will be conducted on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 11:00 am. The service will be streamed live, which may be viewed by logging into Facebook and searching Lake View Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens,
Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
