

Jack was born November 25, 1933 in Pocahontas, IL to Franklin and Viola (Traub) Shinn. He married Rosalie Garrett on June 5, 1954 in East St. Louis, IL and together, they shared 67 years of marriage. She survives and resides in Collinsville, IL.
Also surviving is their son, Kevin (Julie) Shinn of Collinsville, IL; grandchildren, Amy (Adam) Goldberg of Studio City, CA, LeeAnn (Chris) Husted of O’Fallon, MO, Daniel (Kristen) Shinn of Glen Carbon, IL, Cory Ponder of O’Fallon, IL, Katie Farris of Collinsville, IL; and great-grandchildren, Simone, Landon, Caden, Layne and Evelyn Rose.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kerin (Shinn) Ponder; and siblings, Maurice Shinn, Charles Shinn, Bonnie Mayberry, Shelby Shinn and Carl Shinn.
Jack worked at Obear-Nester Glass Company in East St. Louis for many years before continuing his career as an insurance agent with National Life Insurance Company. He and Rosalie were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Collinsville and more recently, attended Maryville Baptist Church in Maryville, IL.
Jack loved the Lord, his family, hugging his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Blues, golfing, fishing, gardening and being outdoors whenever he could. He always had a joke or a story to share; he never met a stranger. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Collinsville from 10:00 A.M.- 11:00 A.M.
A memorial service will follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the church.
Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL at a later date.
