He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Schroen.
James is survived by his daughter, Angie (Aurelio) Sotomayor; son, James Justin (Elisha) Baxter; brother, John (Leliah) Baxter; nephews, Thomas (Barbara) Baxter and Michael (Lisa) Baxter; granddaughter, Stephanie Greer; and grandsons, Ryan Harrison, Justin LJ (Klaudja) Baxter, and Gage Baxter.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois. This will be followed by a graveside service where James will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
