

James A. D’Amato, 77, of San Diego, California, formerly of St. Jacob, Illinois, born October 25, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Magnolia Special Care Center in El Cajon, California.
Mr. D’Amato was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and was an avid gardener.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley D’Amato nee Johnson, and his parents, Armando and Catherine, nee Colmo, D’Amato.
Surviving is his son, Michael (Holly) D’Amato of San Diego, California, six grandchildren, Heather, Ashley, Anthony, Austin, Ceara, and Alyssa, a sister, Patricia Sholl, a brother, Charles D’Amato, three nephews, Scot, Craig, and Philip (Missy) Sholl, two great nephews, Trent and Spencer Sholl, other relatives and friends.
