

Jerry served in the United States Army for 3 years and received a Purple Heart for wounds suffered in Korea. He later retired from the National Guard as a Master Sergeant. He also served as a St. Clair County Sheriff and O’Fallon police officer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Wayne Mills, his mother, Mildred Marie Stella Bovinette, two wives, Melba Mills and Marie Mills, and a son Kevin Mills.
He will be missed by his children; Fred Wayne Mills, Jerry Ralph Shafer, David Wayne Mills, Michael Robert Bruce Mills, Ramona Shafer Reeves, Judi Mills Sukowicz, Kathy Mills Johnson, Regina Shafer, Marcy Mills Cox, Deanna Mills, and Catherine Mills, 30 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and his best friend dog, Jazzie.

Funeral service: Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, November 30, 2012 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Interment will be lake View Memorial Gardens Fairview Heights, Illinois.
