Kevin Marshall Gray, 69, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at his home in Fairview Heights, Illinois. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on February 25, 1955, to Patricia nee Casey, Schuler and Dal Gray.
During his life, Kevin followed in his father’s footsteps by starting his career in the trucking business before becoming a proud member of Local 39 of the decorators’ union. His dedication to his work and his strong work ethic left a lasting impression on his colleagues and friends.
Kevin loved to train karate as a black belt, fish, and spend time with his family. He had a natural gift for making others smile and laugh, never meeting a stranger along the way. His home was always full of love, joy, and the warmth of his Christ-centered life. Kevin was deeply involved in his church, serving on the board of Park View Church of the Nazarene and passionately sharing his faith by passing out water bottles and inviting people to church at Long Acre Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia nee Casey, Schuler and Dal Gray; and step-father, Harry Schuler.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Shirley Gray; his children, Kristina Denny (Kyle), Beth Susic (Chris) Dalton Gray (Lisa), Corey Gray (Claire); and his grandchildren, Logan, Sophia, Ella, Jaxson, Amelia, Elliana, Elias, and Iris who lovingly called him Grandpa Boopado, Papa, and Pops. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Gray, step-brother, Harry Schuler, Jr., step-sister, Celeste Schuler-Strader, along with many extended family members and friends.
Kevin’s life was a beacon of faith, love, and service. Though deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the smiles he brought, and the faith he shared. We find peace in knowing he has entered eternal rest in the arms of his Savior.
