

Mr. Simpson retired from Pfizer, formerly, C K Williams, after 45 years, having never missed a day of work. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and watching western movies. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and avid gun collector. He was an animal lover, who had chickens, pigs, horses, ducks and geese; he also was a bee keeper. He was a loving father and grandfather, who will be truly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruth A. Simpson, nee Haverman; his parents, Bert L. and Myrtle L., nee Tolin, Simpson, a daughter, Sheila Mae Simpson; and a granddaughter, Jaime J. Mitchell.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Sharon K. (Al) Way, Lawrence J. (Gaynell) Simpson, Thomas E. (Gay) Simpson, Sue Ann “Susie” Simpson, and David A. Simpson; his grandchildren, Wayne (Tammy) Way, Lori (Doug) Frerichs, David Simpson, Amy (Jeremiah) Leos, Timmy (Latisha) Simpson, Donnie Simpson, Rachel Simpson, Joy (Tom)Mifflin, Sarah (“J”) Laurent, Joey Ephrem, Tera (Craig) Scroggins; 22 great grandchildren, a sister, Patricia “Patsy” Krupp; two cousins, Barbara (Francis) Haney and Thomas ”Tommy” Simpson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to his caregivers, Cheryl, Cindy, and Lisa; Dr. Oscar Florendo and his nursing staff; and to Heartland Hospice, for their kind, compassionate, and loving care of Larry.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Funeral: Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2014 at the funeral home with Dr. Clarence Haege and Rev. Gregg Haege officiating. Wayne, with his special gift of music, will be playing his guitar, with Joy and Sarah singing, in honor of their Grandpa. Entombment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
