

Lawrence “Larry” A. Wilhelm, 88, of Mascoutah, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Larry was born on November 30, 1935, in Mascoutah, Illinois to Oscar and Ottillia Wilhelm.
Larry attended Holy Childhood Mascoutah School, and later went on to serve his country valiantly in the United Stated Army, where he was in active duty from 1958 to 1961. He then extended his time serving in the Army Reserves from 1960 to 1964. Larry worked at Belleville Township School, District 201, from where he later retired. He was also a proud member of the SEIU Local 116 and had a passion for applying his skill as a jack-of-all-trades to help his family and others.
Larry is survived by his wife, Dolores “Holdener” Wilhelm, whom he married on February 14, 1966; three children, Wayne (Anna) Wilhelm, Douglas (Sherry) Wilhelm, and daughter, Lynn Loewe, all of Mascoutah, IL; grandchildren, Abigail (Ashley) Wilhelm, Samantha Wilhelm, Olivia Wilhelm, Emily Wilhelm, Evan Wilhelm, Lillian Loewe, Grayson Loewe, and Charlotte Loewe; one sister, Marie Wilhelm of Mascoutah, IL; two brothers, Arthur (Clara Mae) Wilhelm of Mascoutah, IL and Father Paul Wilhelm of Roma, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers, George Wilhelm, Eugene Wilhelm, Vincent Wilhelm, and Brother Paul Wilhelm.
A visitation for Lawrence will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208.
There will be a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the funeral home.
A visitation will also be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Holy Childhood of Jesus Catholic Church, 419 E. Church St, Mascoutah, IL 62258.
A funeral mass will follow the visitation Monday, September 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Holy Childhood of Jesus Catholic Church.
A committal service will occur Monday, September 16, 2024, from 11:45 AM at Lake View Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 5000 N Illinois St, Fairview Heights, IL 62208.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry's honor to St. Jude Hospital. Father Paul Mission, or to the Holy Childhood Catholic Church.
