

Len retired from Skinner & Kennedy Printing in Berkeley, MO. He served with the United States Navy right after graduating from Dupo High School in 1955. He attended military training at Great Lakes Naval Base. He was stationed on the USS Pocono, a communications vessel out of Norfolk, VA. He served on the gun crew and operated the skiff transporting top brass ashore. He was honourably discharged in 1958 when the USS Pocono was decommissioned.
He was in the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Suez Canal Crisis, and he served two Mediterranean tours. He spent time in Naples, Italy and flew to northern Africa to meet the fleet.
Len was the father of four children: Lenny Maurice (Melanie) Stovall of Malakoff, TX; Christina Lynn Leonard of Swansea, IL; Brian Lynn Stovall (stillborn); and Kimberly Ann (Paul) McGee of St. Charles, MO.
He had six grandchildren: Beloved Bryan Len Stovall (deceased) and Scott Tyler Stovall of Malakoff, TX; Courtney (Stephan) Price of Nashville, IL; US Air Force Major Michael (Jenna) DeMoss; Noah Lee Stovall of Columbus, OH and Hana Jillian McGee of St. Charles, MO.
Len also had four great-grandchildren: Elle & Nolan Price; and Marley & Dean DeMoss.
Len was a talented artist in many mediums. His pictures were displayed at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois. He also designed stained-glass windows and lamps. He drew his own designs and glass etchings. He played a double-neck guitar and an acoustic guitar. Len was in a band, one at church and one with the Staten Brothers of Cahokia. He was active in his church until his illness. He loved his God, country, and family. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Lynn Stovall; his parents, Leonard Merle Sr. and Alma Lucille (Seavers) Stovall; his grandson Bryan; aunts, uncles, and various cousins.
He is survived by his wife Doris Marie (Wyman) Stovall of 56 years, his sister Terry (Clyde) Kempf, nieces Angela (Dave) Barnes and Robin (Ed) Fambrough.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
