

Eugene was born September 15, 1947 in East St. Louis, IL to Louis Vincent and Bertha May (Putman) Kite. He married Cynthia Jones on November 21, 1975 in Collinsville, IL. She survives him and resides in Waterloo, IL.
Also surviving are his two children, David (Gena) Alger of Waterloo, IL and Marcella (Chris) Land of Granite City, IL; grandchildren, David Alger of Benld, IL, Brandon Alger of Dupo, IL, Andrew Alger of Waterloo, IL, and Christopher (Teresa) Land of Belleville, IL; two great-grandchildren, Rylie and Noah; and one sister. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Dixie and Gizmo.
Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a true patriot who loved his country. In years past, he worked at nursing homes in patient care, tending to those who needed a helping hand. Eugene had a one-of-a-kind personality which resulted in him truly never meeting a stranger. His love of animals was evident throughout his life, as he and Cynthia loved and cared for many pets over the years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
VISITATION: A visitation for Eugene will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 from 10:00 A.M.- 11:00 A.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.
FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held following the visitation, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Ron Habermehl officiating. Final interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL where full military honors will be rendered.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Louis VA Medical Center - John Cochran Division, as a thank you to their entire team for the compassion and care shown to Eugene and his family during his time there.
