

Mary Ellen (Buchanan) Kerr, age 89, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, Aug. 15, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Elmer “Peck” and Lola (Correll) Buchanan on Oct. 6, 1931, in Osceola, Arkansas.
Mary attended high school in Gideon, MO, where she met her loving husband, Curtis Kerr. They married on February 2, 1949, and had seven children and enjoyed 60 years together until Curtis’ death in Sept. 2009.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives, one sister and her husband, and a granddaughter, Jallah Ruth Hope Kerr.
She is survived by her children, Allen (Sue) Kerr, Sue (late, Bob) Steiger, Karen (Ron) DeSuza, Kevin (Joyce) Kerr, David (Linda) Kerr, Jane (Bob) Lunk, and Mike (Malissa) Kerr, 29 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.
Curtis & Mary were founding/charter members of 1st Baptist Church of Villa Hills in Belleville, IL. They were owners of Kerr’s Villa Market in Belleville, IL and, later, Crystal’s Bake and Coffee Shop in Camdenton, MO.
VISITATION: A visitation for Mary will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
SERVICE: A funeral service will be held Friday, August 20, 2021, at 12:00 P.M. and interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
