Mavis was born on April 16, 1940 in Renault, Illinois. She was the daughter of Bob and Edna (Hern) Easton. On June 4, 1960, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, William Caswell. They shared over 63 years of marriage.
Mavis’s pride and delight in her family was evident to all. Despite her many pursuits, nothing was more important to her than being a Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her godly instruction and hours of prayer had an impact on her family that will forever be realized. God was indeed at the center of her family.
God was at the center of her life too, as shown by her spoken testimony and in the way she lived. She was active in various ministries at church which culminated in fairly recently being the Seniors Coordinator at O’Fallon Assembly of God.
She lived an idyllic young life in Renault working side by side on the farm with her beloved father. She began her education at Grant, a one room schoolhouse. After graduating from Waterloo High School, she attended Evangel College for three wonderful years before receiving her bachelor’s in education, then her master's from SIU-Edwardsville. She fulfilled her childhood dream by teaching at Waterloo Public Schools for approximately 28 years.
Spending time with her family, cousins, and friends brought Mavis great joy. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. Her beautiful smile and her trademark laugh brightened everyone’s day. Her memory will forever be cherished by all those whose lives she touched and blessed.
Mavis is survived by her husband, William Caswell; children, Cynthia (Ron) Siddle, Bill (Joyce) Caswell, Shari (Calvin) Kaemmerer, and Curt (Kathy) Caswell; 15 grandchildren, Brittany Siddle, Ryan (Laura) Siddle, Joshua (Taylor) Kaemmerer, Erica (Dillon) Strittmatter, Jacob (Kailie) Caswell, Victoria (Adam) Evans, Jared Kaemmerer, Alex Siddle, Zach (fiancé Nikki) Caswell, Jordan Kaemmerer, Brendan Caswell, Tristin (Bree) Caswell, Nick Caswell, Adam Siddle, and Stefan (Grace) Caswell; 11 great-grandchildren, Jason Bowyer, Arya Bowyer, Cole Caswell, Daisy Bowyer, Segenn Kaemmerer, Alice Siddle, Roen Kaemmerer, Emilia Caswell, Wren Strittmatter, Harvey Evans, Henry Siddle; her siblings, Judith Crowder, Allan (Joyce) Easton, Kim (Rob) Pierce.
