Merrills Edwin Niebruegge

Merrills Edwin Niebruegge, 85, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born September 18, 1929 in Caseyville, Illinois, died, Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Relais Bonne Eau, Hospice Home with his wife and daughter by his side.

Merrills proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Spectrulite Consortium in Madison, IL in 1992 after 33 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, fishing and his morning breakfast group. He was our dear husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin and will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura (Don) Sullivan; his parents, Walter and Clara (nee Koehler) Niebruegge; his sister Anita (Joe) Cigliana; and his brother-in-law, Robert A. (Joan) Wood, Jr.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Shirley, nee Wood, Niebruegge; his daughter, Sheryl (William) Check, of Great Falls, VA; his brother, William (Catherine) Niebruegge of Mariana, FL; grandsons, Jason (Danielle) Sullivan of Colorado Springs, CO, Ryan Sullivan of Denver, CO and Adam Check of Great Falls, VA; and great grandchildren, Lauren and Jackson Sullivan.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2015 and from 9 to 10 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Funeral: Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
