Metta took pride in being a hard worker all her life. From raising her children and working side by side with her husband on the dairy farm and cotton fields for many years. She enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, her family was precious to her.
She loved music and sang all the time. We cherish the stories she would often tell us of her as a young girl. The grandchildren would smother her with hugs and kisses as they too, would listen to her stories and poems. One of her biggest enjoyments was going to church; she attended Edgemont Bible Church in Fairview Heights, Illinois. We may not have her here to fellowship with, but we do have our precious memories in our hearts, that will last forever.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie T. Bridger, of 47 years; and her three daughters, Martha Long, Earlene Jones, and Phillis Bridger, in infancy.
Surviving are her children, Jean Law, Ethel Pegg, Billie (Pat) Bridger, Willie (Diane) Bridger, Charles (Jeanne) Bridger, Carolyn Shelton, Janet (Ron Wilson) Bridger, Marilyn (Jack) Austin, Cyndi (Matt) Alldredge, and Ronnie Bridger; many grandchildren, great grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Robert) Cooley; her sons-in-law, Jack Jones and Bill Long.
