Monda Lee Sergerson

Monda L. Sergerson, 87, of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away on February 21, 2024 at her residence. She was born on April 5,1936 in Sorento, Illinois, the daughter of Harvey and Verna (Jordan) Massey. She married the love of her life, Carl, on January 9, 1959 and was happily married for 56 years before he passed. As a young woman she graduated from Greenville College with a bachelor's degree and later in life got her master's degree in teaching at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching and taught for 38 years. She loved collecting dolls, bunnies, birdhouses, antique tea pots, cups and saucers, and salt and pepper shakers. She also enjoyed going to the beauty salon, painting her nails, going to antique stores, going to church, playing bingo, doing word searches and crossword puzzles, going to AARP meetings and the Police Academy with her friends. She really enjoyed going to Cardinal baseball games and watching baseball, hockey, and football. She loved spending quality time with friends and family.

In addition to her son, Jeffrey and daughter-in-law, Cindy, she is survived by her grandchildren, Shane Keeney; Tyler (Maria) Keeney; Brittanie (Jesse) Skaggs; Dakota Sergerson and girlfriend Margaret Cheney; Nicole Mayhall; her great-grandchildren, Maddalynne Skaggs; Brayddenn Skaggs; Landon Skaggs; Kaylynne Skaggs; Leevi Skaggs; Christina Keeney; sister-in-law, Janet Sergerson; nephews, Craig Sergerson; Scott (Niki) Winslett.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Verna; loving husband Carl; daughter, Carleeta; sister, Judith; brother-in-laws, James; Jerry; sister-in-law, Beauton.

A visitation for Monda will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00am with a visitation prior from 10:00am until time of service in the funeral home. Interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens.
