

Mr. Borders was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired from Operating Engineer Local 520 Mitchell Illinois. Bob was a licensed pilot, was very handy and loved to play guitar and the dulcimer. His family describes him as the original Google because of his wealth of information. He was a kind and gentle man who was an evangelist and ministered to prisons and jails including Graham Prison, Bond County Jail, Montgomery County Jail, Drug Rehab in Jerseyville, Illinois, and the Pere Marquette Illinois Work Camp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Virgil and Oma, nee Oxford, Borders, his first wife, Joan Borders, nee Brooks, and two sisters; Betty Jo Borders and Darlene King.
Surviving is his wife, Paula Borders, nee Southard, a son Robert “Bob” (Kelly) Borders Jr. of Collinsville, Illinois, three daughters; Rose Lankford of Collinsville, Illinois, Mary (Steve) Davinroy of Troy, Illinois, and Betty Pejakovich of Collinsville, Illinois, a step-son, David (Aimee) Andrews of Robards, Kentucky, twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two brothers; Bill (Judy) Borders of Collinsville, Illinois, and Virgil Borders of Oakawville, Illinois, two sisters; Shirley (Steve) Yarborough of Collinsville, Illinois and Nancy (Dennis) Wettig of Dearborn, Missouri, a brother-in-law, Robert King, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many people whose lives he has touched.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, February 13, 2015 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Interment will be Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
