

Shirley McCarty, age 90, passed away, Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Freeburg Care Center with her family at her side. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 30, 1933, to Marshall and Margaret Fridy.
During her life, she moved to the St. Louis metro-east as a young adult, and remained there until her passing, serving as a bar owner, amongst other business endeavors. After retiring, she went on to enjoy many hobbies like gardening, listening to live music, attending Cardinals’ games, enjoying trips to scenic places with her family, an occasional Stag beer, and especially having a strong enthusiasm for Pickleball the last decade of her life.
She loved classic music like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson (who was the exact same age). She is known for staying extremely active with exercise and always being on the go, until the last few months of her life.
She was preceded in death by, her daughter, Sheila McCarty, and her husband, Herb McCarty Sr.
She is survived by her three sons, Herb (Edie), Jeff (Cynthia), and Dean McCarty; her six grandchildren, Tim Street, Jeff Jr, Andrew, Cassidy, Jordyn, and Brady McCarty; her two great-grandchildren Mady and Abby McCarty. She brought so much joy to so many lives.
A memorial service may be held at a later date.
