

Steve proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a flight radio operator in the Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Sergeant from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, after 22 years. He also retired from Island Creek Coal Company after 17 years. He enjoyed camping, golfing, picking up his pecans and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary, nee Keleman, Sharkey; two sons, Stephen M. Sharkey and Stanley Sharkey; a great grandson Wesley Holding, in infancy; two brothers, Joseph and Michael Sharkey; and a son-in-law, Herbert Amos.
Surviving are his loving wife, of 54 years, Georgia L. Sharkey, nee Conner; two daughters, Yvonne (David) Robillard and Diana Amos; two sons, Scott (Anita) Sharkey and Shawn (Krystal) Sharkey; his grandchildren, Courtney (Eddie) Lacik, Christin Robillard, Heather Sharkey, Terrance Amos, Stephen Sharkey, Stanley Sharkey, Scott Sharkey, Shea Sharkey, Noah Sharkey, and Emma Sharkey; four great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Landon, Alicia, and Cierra; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
