Thomas Harry Verbeck, 78, of East Carondelet, Illinois, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born July 14, 1947, in East St. Louis, Illinois to Charles Verbeck and Margaret (nee McDermott) Simmons. He served his community as a paramedic, firefighter, nurse, police officer, and a Mr. Fixit. He was always the first person to lend a hand when someone was in need. He enjoyed working in his yard and was an admirer of history. He will be forever loved and missed by family and friends.
Survivors include his children: Mark (Linette) Verbeck, Jason (Angie) Verbeck, Cathrine (John) Coonce, Christina Verbeck, Donnie (Trina) Beshears, Jeff (Gloria) Beshears, David (Nora) Beshears, and Joyce DeChiara; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings: Herb (Mickey) Simmons and Novell Simmons.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian Verbeck; and siblings John Verbeck and Janet Doublin.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, beginning at 1:00pm at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208. Interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens.
